For large boards use scope=document, format=jsonl (media-reference diagnostic pages, follow nextCursor; not importable JSON). Export complete content for downloads; use focused reads for edits. Formats depend on sheet type: JSON, Mermaid, Markdown, PDF or CSV. scope=document exports the workbook as JSON; sheetId selects one sheet. Mermaid IDs are not edit targets. Large boards: scope=document, format=jsonl returns a media-reference diagnostic archive page; follow nextCursor until null. Header first, then raw sheet pages, including persisted tab types outside the import schema. Concurrent edits require restarting. JSONL is not an importable workbook. Export for downloads or tasks that need the entire document representation. For small edits use focused read_board and conditional mutations instead of exporting and replacing the document. Export a flowchart sheet as JSON or Mermaid, a Structured Data tab as JSON (entire collection) or CSV (requires tableId), or a document tab as JSON, Markdown or PDF (base64) using sheetId, or scope=document with format=json for the complete version-3 document with every sheet. Mermaid omits formatting/layout; its IDs must not be used as edit targets. Journals support Markdown, PDF and JSON with image references.
